About Al O'Connell

Hey there, I'm Al O'Connell, your friendly neighborhood financial advisor at Thrivent. I'm excited to help you navigate the world of finance and achieve your financial goals, but before we dive into that, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I've spent seven years serving in the North Dakota National Guard, where I learned the importance of discipline, teamwork, and how to make a mean MRE taste like a gourmet meal. I've also spent six years serving meals and making deals at the Fargo Toasted Frog. Best Fried Cheesy Pickles Salesman 4 years running. It's not exactly the traditional move for someone with a passion for finance, but hey, I figure it's good practice for managing a portfolio – you know, keeping everything balanced and making sure nothing gets spilled.

I graduated from Concordia College of Moorhead back in 2021 and spent an incredible year and a half developing young lives as a Youth Director with First Lutheran Church in downtown Fargo. After teaching a number of Financial courses to a medley of people, I ended up developing a love for the up's and down's of financial services.

But enough about me – let's talk about you! Whether you're just starting out or looking to make some big financial moves, I'm here to help. And don't worry, I won't bore you with finance jargon or talk your ear off about stocks and bonds. I like to keep things approachable, and maybe even throw in a joke or two to lighten the mood. So let's get started on building your financial future – and if you have any good MRE recipes, feel free to share!
