About Lia Hege

Born and raised in Mattoon, I met my future husband, Erik, bowling during my last year of college at the University of Illinois. After establishing roots in Champaign with our wedding in 1997, we were blessed with 5 beautiful daughters: Bri, Becca, Cara, Colleen, and Alexis. My hobbies include exploring the national parks system, watching sports, and experimenting with DYI crafts, and I am excited to be a recent addition to the Fire Foundation of Central Illinois executive board.

In August of 1993, I taught my first lesson as an undergrad teaching assistant at UIUC. Between earning my degree and joining Thrivent, my vocations have been three-fold: wife to Erik, stay-at-home mom for 13 years, and public/parochial high school chemistry teacher for 13 years. I have always been drawn to the corporal works of mercy through organizations like Catholic Daughters of America and Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and particularly enjoy conversations with my clients that involve ways to help the people and organizations that are dear to them.
