Meet Our Team

Debbie Jans
Growing up in Wing, ND on a dairy farm in the 80’s left a definite imprint on me. Between my 7th & 8th grades, half of my class moved away mostly because of the banks foreclosing on the area farmers. My parents struggled but were able to survive because of their diversification of grains and dairy, and their faith in God.
After graduating from Bismarck State College and the University of Northern Colorado, my plans were to become an elementary teacher. After my student teaching experience, I realized my passion for teaching and helping others led elsewhere. While working at a local credit union in various roles, I had a chance meeting with the local Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) representative, and that started my teaching journey with Thrivent.
Relocating back to North Dakota as we started our family, gave us an opportunity for our extended family to stay close-knit. We chose the Wilton area as it was equal distance to our families and work. Thrivent allowed me to continue to use my abilities to serve clients by growing an existing practice which I continue to do this day. It's amazing to me that it has already been over 2 decades. Throughout the years I have built an amazing team around my practice that you can read about on this website.
I am most proud of the simple and actionable processes we’ve created to help guide each client in their journey to financial clarity with biblical wisdom.
As I have grown, I look back and find that I crave security & organization in my finances from my experiences growing up on the farm. I naturally bring these skills to the table for our clientele, along with my faith & belief in God. I strive to empower Christians in understanding and utilizing the different tools and processes that help take the chaos out of their financial journey.
My husband, David & I have celebrated over 30 years of marriage. We have a daughter, Jaclyn, a student at NDSU, and a son, Caleb who is a high school student at Wilton. We enjoy traveling, trail riding on horses Max and Annie, along with dogs Teddy and Charlie. I also enjoy singing, gardening and reading.

Trevor Opp
Growing up a Bismarck native, I soaked in the timeless Midwestern values and strong work ethic. In high school and college, I found myself working full-time or even over-time hours in search of growing my knowledge of various industries and eventually management. From early on in my working career, back at Dan’s Supermarket, I knew, I wanted to be a leader.
My entrepreneurial spirit ignited during college, where I had many ideas that never panned out. In 2019, I connected with Debbie and began my journey to becoming a financial advisor. As it turned out, being a Financial Advisor was not quite what I expected; I pictured myself sitting at a desk with 4 computer screens trading stocks daily. Instead, I found it comes with a much greater purpose; the ability to lead clients to greater financial clarity and prosperity. Driven by a genuine desire to coach others, being good with numbers and having a passion for problem solving has allowed me to flourish as an advisor.
Becoming a successful advisor doesn’t happen without a great support system. My wife Paige is my biggest fan and does anything she can to help me succeed. We love to travel, whether that is weekend trips to Brush Lake with my family or international trips such as Europe or somewhere in the Caribbean; Paige even made it to all 50 US states prior to age 30! We live in NW Bismack, no kids yet, but do have an adorable, and often sassy, cat named Luna.
I’m grateful to be a Thrivent advisor to help guide members through their complicated financial journeys with values that are ingrained in Christianity. I truly enjoy working with all clients, but my talents are best utilized when working with small business owners on their business protection and transition strategies, and with clients looking to understand and maximize how their assets will transfer to their beneficiaries efficiently upon their passing.

I have been working with Debbie and our Team since 2012. I love the relationships that we have built over the years and find happiness in serving you.
In my position, I am responsible for gathering information to help prepare Debbie and Trevor for meeting with you, along with meeting follow-up such as transmitting paperwork.
Out of the office, I LOVE flowers and gardening; most of our backyard is used for growing flowers and vegetables.
My husband Keith & I like to travel, and love riding trails with our side-by-side, enjoying the scenery.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you to find clarity on your financial journey!

My passion is serving others. For me, that usually comes with a plate of cookies or a cake and a prayer. Serving others with a Christian perspective is what brought me to help Debbie, Trevor and our Team at Thrivent. I will be the first one to answer your call and the first one you see when you come to our office. My duties are scheduling, and account maintenance. If you ask Debbie, my job would include making pumpkin bread pudding with caramel sauce! Trevor is still in search of the best cookie, although I have offered several kinds to him. If you happen to be scheduled on one of those days, you could be lucky enough to sample my treats, too!
I enjoy serving my family with love & baking! My husband Tom as well as my 3 grown children still request their favorite dishes when they are home. My faith is a very important part of my life. I am a graduate of St. Mary’s Central High School and a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit.
Starting your journey to financial clarity starts with a phone call, or by clicking on the "Connect" tab of this website, or by stopping in. I will be happy to connect you with Debbie or Trevor!

I was raised in Detroit Lakes, MN, where most of my family currently lives. Although most of my family is in the Detroit Lakes area, I have some family in Bismarck and Canada. I grew up on a small farm neighboring her grandparent’s farm. They raised all sorts of livestock such as cows, chickens, horses, pigs, and even pheasants.
I participated in many activities in high school, but hockey was the sport that continued to college. My love for hockey stemmed from my dad, who was a goalie. Although I didn’t go for the “goalie” route, I played hockey for 11 years. I started college at the University of Minnesota - Duluth majoring in Financial Planning for the first 2 years. At UMD, I played ACHA D2 Women’s Hockey, which was a blast! I moved out to Bismarck in May of 2024 and have transferred to the University of Mary to major in Financial Services and Banking.
My future goal is to pursue a career in finance. "I am blessed with the opportunity to work with Debbie and Trevor and the team to learn more about the finance field. I look forward to meeting everyone, learning, and growing at Thrivent!"
