I am using my Thrivent Action Team benefit through Thrivent Financial to provide six Faraday evidence isolation bags to the Salina Police Department. As a gesture of appreciation for their ongoing service, I also treated the department to lunch while delivering the bags.
Faraday bags play a crucial role in modern investigations. They block all wireless signals—such as cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS—so that when officers seize a phone or tablet, its contents cannot be remotely accessed, altered, or wiped before it can be examined. Nearly every case today, whether it involves domestic disputes, missing persons, theft, fraud, or drug activity, contains key digital evidence found on mobile devices. Without protection, that data can be erased in seconds.
By securing devices in their exact state at the time of seizure, these bags help protect chain of custody and ensure the evidence remains admissible in court. When digital evidence is preserved properly, investigations move faster, prosecutions are stronger, and victims and witnesses receive better protection. That leads to safer neighborhoods, greater accountability, and increased public trust in law enforcement.
This Thrivent Action Team project is a small investment with meaningful impact, and it was my honor to support the Salina Police Department in both a practical and encouraging way. I am grateful for all they do to protect the community.
