A few months ago, I faced something I never expected. A rare autoimmune disorder threatened my eyesight, and for a time, I wasn't sure what the future would look like. As a mom, I wasn't thinking about account balances or investments. I was thinking about these kids—getting them where they need to go, being present for the big moments, and continuing to provide for my family. Thankfully, I'm doing much better today, but the experience was a powerful reminder that our ability to earn an income and care for those we love can change in an instant. That's why planning matters.
