Our Story
Why we are Rooted Financial Advisors

I’ve watched what happens when a business owner makes a life-changing decision without seeing the full picture—and I never want that to be someone’s story.

I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. I saw firsthand what it takes to build a business while also protecting your family and your values. Running a company isn’t just about profit and loss. It’s about stewardship. It’s about responsibility. It’s about carrying decisions that affect employees, spouses, children, and future generations.

But I also saw how isolating that responsibility can be.

Business owners are often expected to have all the answers. They’re making high-stakes decisions about growth, hiring, reinvesting, selling, or transitioning—and many times they don’t have a trusted sounding board who can help them think through the long-term ramifications. Too often, they find out after the fact that better options were available.

That frustration is what led me to start Rooted Financial Advisors.

I’ve seen owners exit well—with clarity, preparation, and confidence. And I’ve seen others exit poorly—unprepared for taxes, undervaluing their business, or misaligned with their personal goals. When I realized how preventable many of those outcomes were, I knew I wanted to build something different.

I wanted to be a resource business owners could trust before decisions are made, not after consequences show up.

At the core of my work are three values: Grace, Truth, and Abundance.

Grace allows us to acknowledge what’s been done without shame or regret. Truth gives us clarity about where we stand and what the numbers are really telling us. And Abundance reminds us that there is usually more than one path forward.

When I work with business owners, I seek to understand first. I want to know what they’ve built, what they value, and what kind of legacy they want to leave. From there, we model scenarios, explore options, and illuminate trade-offs—so decisions are made from clarity, not pressure.

I care deeply about this work because I know what a business represents. It’s years of sacrifice. It’s missed weekends. It’s risk and resilience. And when it comes time to transition or exit, that life’s work deserves thoughtful planning.

When you understand your options before you have to choose, everything changes.

That’s why I do what I do—to help business owners move forward with clarity, confidence, and a plan that reflects their faith, their family, and the future they’re building.

What is Financial Planning for Businesses?

Have you ever wondered what all is involved in financial planning? Have you worked with someone on your personal plans but unsure what it would look life with your business needs?

There are many areas that are similar but yet different when it comes to planning for businesses, their owners, key employees, all employees and those involved. As the saying goes, "People don't plan to fail, but fail to plan!"

We take the time to truly understand the values and goals that drive your business, gather the necessary data needed to analyze the goals discovered, work with our team and software to customize and run scenarios that illustrate current trajectory along with potentially improved scenarios, then implement with you a customized plan. Once delivered, we do not stop there! We continue to monitor and adjust as life happens to ensure the on-going relationship is one that meets your current and future needs.

Watch this video to see what is involved and reach out if you are ready to begin the process in working together in any or all of these key areas!

First steps when starting a business

When starting a business, do not fall into this trap! Start early and often with being proactive rather than reactive. Your CPA will appreciate it along with making tax preparing that much easier for you. This is why we work with businesses and owners to be their proactive planner than the reactive planner, many have experienced!

Proactive planning allows clear decisions to be made without emotions interferring, thus reducing anxiety! And wouldn't we all love a little less anxiety these days!?

Reach out to have a complimentary session to discover the ways we can work together and understand if we are the right fit for you and your business!

Business Exit Planning

How to exit can be even MORE important than how to start a business! It can take time to make all the logistics work to deliver the best value in transitioning a business.

There are many factors to consider when planning an exit. We specialize in helping businesses and their owners evaluate what is their desired outcome and how likely will it happen. If you do not plan for a proper exit, you could be costing yourself and your business dearly!

One day your business will not be run by you, do you want to have input on the transition, and value received for transitioning the business to another? Reach out to discuss the options and best ways to protect yourself, your business and everyone important that relies on your business.

Watch the video for things you should consider when planning for the transition and exit from your business. Please reach out to discuss any particular points of interest to your unique situation.

Have you stress tested your business?

Most people tend to think of only the things that could go right with starting and running a business! But have you sat down with someone to discuss what could go wrong and how to properly mitigate those risks? I know some industries, like NASA, stress test their equipment to evaluate at what point is total and utter failure to ensure they know as much information to ensure proper usage would not cause issues. We do that same type of work for businesses and their owners. We explore all the things that could go wrong or derail them from succeeding, giving them the knowledge to make a plan and be prepared should any unforeseen circumstances arise.
