Those words of wisdom were instilled in me as a child growing up in rural Oklahoma. Today, as a financial advisor with the Thrivent Pickering Group, I get to do just that! Everyday I am blessed by the opportunity to connect with people, discover their goals and aspirations, and use my financial skills and experience to make a difference for each individual or family I serve.

How I got here

I wasn’t always a financial advisor, but I always had a love of finance (I bought my first stock at age 12). Growing up as the son of a physician, my career naturally began in the healthcare industry. I built a thriving 16-year career as a healthcare executive, recruiting physicians, managing start-ups as well as day-to-day business operations. But I was ready for a change. When my wife accepted a pastoral call that took us from Oklahoma to Chester County, I knew the timing was right to pursue my love of finances. However, I was concerned that my family value to “use my gifts to help others” might be compromised in order to meet shareholder targets. Then I found Thrivent.

I discovered my personal values of empathy, authenticity, impact, commitment, and gratitude aligned perfectly with Thrivent’s. What other 120-old company can say they are a Fortune 500 with an emphasis on advice, client education and generosity?
