- Thomas Vick, an estate attorney out of Greenwood, who broke down the biggest misconceptions around estate planning, the role of health care directives, Medicaid eligibility, and how to avoid common legal pitfalls.
- Erland Porter, my Market Director at Thrivent, who brought the financial side to life — covering the tax impact of poor planning, how to leave a legacy with minimal debt, and the importance of strong financial foundations.
This event wasn’t about fear or worst-case scenarios — it was about clarity, control, and confidence in your future.

Biggest Takeaway: Impact isn’t measured by the size of the room, but by the value each person walks away with. One guest shared that they were glad they chose to attend, even on their day off, because they walked away with something meaningful. That made it all worth it!

One of my favorite things about working for Thrivent is the Thrivent Action Teams program—it gives you the tools and support to lead fundraisers, service projects, and more with your community.
I recently wrapped up my very first Thrivent Action Team event and I couldn't be more grateful for the experience! I had the opportunity to support my mom’s community yard sale, with all proceeds going to the nonprofit she founded: The Helen Svonavec Memorial Fund for Pets, Inc.
This amazing organization helps cover medical and surgical care for stray pets in Monticello, Indiana and surrounding areas. Thanks to Thrivent’s generosity, we were able to provide meals and snacks for all our hardworking volunteers throughout the two-day event.
I'm thrilled to share that we raised over $2,800 in donations! A huge thank you to all the volunteers and the incredible staff at my mom’s veterinary clinic who helped make this possible.
