Josh Wikstrom
Josh WikstromAssociateCFP®, BFA™

Josh grew up with a strong foundation of respecting others, doing the right thing, working hard, and planning wisely for the future. As he grew older, he developed a deep appreciation for perseverance and faith, values that would ultimately shape both his life and career.

After playing collegiate basketball at the University of Northwestern, Josh later earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University. He spent seven years working as a Mechanical Engineer for General Motors, where he enjoyed solving complex problems and working alongside talented professionals. While he valued his career and the opportunities it provided, he felt called to make a more direct impact on the lives of individuals and families.

During his years as an engineer, Josh spent much of his free time studying personal finance and helping friends and coworkers navigate financial questions. Before long, he became the person many turned to for guidance and insight. Through a friendship with someone at Thrivent, he discovered an opportunity to combine his analytical background, passion for helping others, and faith-driven desire to serve. After thoughtful consideration and prayer, Josh made the decision to transition careers and become a financial advisor.

Today, Josh is passionate about helping individuals and families gain clarity, make thoughtful decisions, and work toward what matters most to them. He considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they pursue their goals and build plans for the future. The opportunity to serve others through his work at Thrivent, alongside his wife Amanda, has been a dream come true.

Outside of work, Josh enjoys serving on the worship team at Crossroads Church, playing golf and rec basketball, and spending time outdoors riding dirt bikes, mountain bikes, and snowmobiles. Family is at the heart of everything he does, and he treasures time spent with Amanda, their sons Tucker and Finn, extended family, and close friends. Whether enjoying a quiet evening at home or spending a weekend at the family cabin in northern Minnesota, Josh is grateful for the relationships and experiences that make life meaningful.
