Wishing you and your family a wonderful Halloween and a beautiful fall season! As we enjoy the traditions, changing leaves, and time spent with the people we love, may we also find little ways to show kindness and generosity to those around us. From all of us at Thrivent, have a safe and happy Halloween! #thrivent #falltraditions #happyhalloween
❤️Action team spotlight!!❤️ My wife jokingly puts this on our calendar as “car ministry,” but in reality it is a people ministry that simply uses cars as the tool. It started about three years ago as a one-time event called Maintenance 101. That event sparked a desire in a handful of us. We wanted to serve our community through automotive repair, so after some planning we began meeting every other Tuesday in my detached garage. Over the past few years, we’ve completed everything from engine and transmission replacements to just topping off fluids and everything in between for dozens of local families. Our approach is not to fix cars for people, but to repair them with people. Working side-by-side creates opportunities to build relationships and show people that we care about them because Jesus cares about them. From the beginning, our vision was not only to serve those needing transportation but also to disciple the men volunteering their time and talents. The garage has become a place where friendships are built, encouragement is given, and faith is discussed naturally. Reliable transportation can be life-changing for a family, and we’ve seen that impact firsthand. But we’ve also seen God work in the lives of the volunteers, the people receiving help, and their families through the relationships formed around these repair projects. The Thrivent Action Team support helped provide shop supplies, tools, snacks, and parts for one of our workshop nights, making it easier to serve our community and continue investing in people. See thrivent.com/social for important disclosure information.
