About Jerry Vang
Jerry is a Milwaukee Native, born and raised on the Southside of Milwaukee. He is first generation Hmong American and the youngest of 6 children. His parents are immigrants who escaped the Vietnam War and came to the United States in 1979. Jerry resides in Dousman with his wife Lee, their four daughters and his mother His family enjoys exploring the great outdoors, swimming, playing sports and traveling together. He is an avid sports fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks. Jerry is also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Jerry has always enjoyed giving back to the community. He is a lifelong member at Ascension Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Growing up as a pastor’s kid, church was his second home. Jerry and his family are active members in their church and he serves on a few committees such as the endowment, stewardship, communication and the Hmong leadership board.
My Journey and Vision
I came to know about Thrivent around 13 years ago when I lost my father unexpectedly to Leukemia. My father was a member with Thrivent Financial so after losing him, I helped my mother with figuring out the finances for the family. I’ve learned so much through those times and how important the decisions we make can impact our loved ones when we’re no longer here. After my own journey with finances and all the things I’ve learned along the way, I realized how much many resources are out and how little I actually knew about the finance world. I am in the sandwich generation so finances were always tricky to me and definitely an uneasy topic to talk about. I enjoy seeing people be successful in life and that’s why I am looking to reach out to connect with as many people in my community. I enjoy sharing my knowledge, whether it’s through my experiences or things I’ve learned as I’ve become a Financial professional with Thrivent.
