About Jeff

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, I moved to Colorado in February of 2005. I had only intended to live here for one year, but 10 days after my arrival I met my wife, Sarah, and have been in Colorado Springs since. We got married in 2007 and since then we have had 2 daughters, Elliana and Felicity. I love spending my free time with my family and friends, and as a family, we love hiking, mountain biking and board games- really anything that involves being together.

My Journey to a career in finances

Why did I want to become a financial advisor? In July of 2016, Colorado Springs had a massive hailstorm that destroyed our home. That was the start of my future. In April of 2017, my car had an engine issue that cost a couple hundred dollars, which I fixed. In May, my truck had an engine issue that cost about $3k, and, while I’m in the driveway fixing my truck, my water heater went out. To make things worse, in June, when we fixed the siding on our home from the hailstorm, we found out that the insurance company was not going to cover all the costs. All in all, we went over $16k in debt in about 2 months’ time.

$16k may not seem like a lot to some people, but when you’ve never had debt, and that debt equates to half of your annual income, it’s overwhelming. My wife and I knew we needed to make changes, so we got help. Once we learned how to budget, we were able to make a plan for protecting our present, and, begin saving for our future.
