I’m Gary Cates, an Associate Representative with Thrivent. After serving six years with the Illinois Army National Guard and a deployment to Afghanistan in 2019, I wanted to keep serving my community. Thrivent was able to help me answer the next call of duty and be able to serve Central Illinois in a different way.

I am at Thrivent because I firmly believe I can create a positive impact on people’s lives through their finances. I have seen firsthand the devastation of poor planning and confusion around finances. I want to be the helping hand in turning massive goals into steps and plans towards reality.

I am proud to work with service members of the United States, Veterans, transitioning service members, families, college students, young professionals, and individuals plant seeds for their financial future. My goal is to help offer clarity on where you are today and confidence for where you’ll be tomorrow.
