I was about to post a funny caption with this photo to my social media, but I hesitated big time. Call it head trash, call it hustle culture, or call it what you want, but the fact of the matter is I had serious reservations about posting a picture of me in the carpool line (aka mid afternoon) just after a brief run. What will my clients think of me if they know I might be running during business hours or taking time to pick up my kids from school? I’m not saying men don’t have these same thoughts, I just think that women who are trying to run a business, raise a family, and maintain a little health and sanity may have them a bit more. So how about this. . . I’m going to trust that my clients know that I work hard for them, and more importantly, I’ve got an amazing team alongside me that helps serve them well even when I’m not there. So, running with the dog in brutally cold weather is perfectly fine, and taking off to grab the kids in carpool once and awhile is also perfectly fine. I’m going to trust that future clients feel the same, and if they don’t, maybe we aren’t a good fit. So, I’ll go back to my original post: That north wind is brutal already, so we cut our run short. Mattis insisted on coming along to carpool. I think he makes a pretty good chaperone!

It may have taken six months for me to get it framed, but I’ve got some great new artwork for my desk. I often get asked about my fascination/interest in Mickey Mouse. I can honestly say that it’s because Mickey has ups and downs, but at the end of the day he’s genuinely happy with himself and the people he surrounds himself with. Not a bad mantra for life. For additional disclosures, see Thrivent.com/social
