Our story

Joel joined Thrivent in 2016 and started Covenant Financial Group in 2019. After years of serving as CEO of an international company and, before that, as a vice president for Ecolab, Joel decided to make a career change. Drawing on his business acumen, faith and interest in finances, he chose to become a financial advisor with Thrivent.  

From the beginning, Covenant Financial Group’s focus has been to help individuals and business owners be wise with money and make the most of their blessings. Our team finds great fulfillment in working with clients who share our faith and values, and we feel honored to help them live lives of generosity and abundance.   

Covenant Financial Group has grown significantly in the past couple of years, adding clients and staff as we expand in local markets to help more people achieve financial clarity and confidence. Joel Groskreutz
Joel GroskreutzFinancial AdvisorRICP®, CLTC®, CEPA®

When Joel joined Thrivent in 2017, he came with decades of management and business relationship experience. Previously, he was the president and CEO of an international agriculture company serving the dairy industry. Earlier in his career, Joel was a vice president and regional manager for Ecolab. Drawing on his business acumen and faith, he focuses on helping individuals and business owners strategically plan for their financial future and spread generosity.  

Joel and his wife, Brenda, enjoy family time with their four daughters and eight grandchildren. They have lived in Reedsburg for more than 30 years and are active members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Joel also serves on the RAMC Board of Directors and is the vice chairman of the board at Reedsburg Area Medical Center. His hobbies include golfing, biking, boating and spending time with family. 

David Kraus
David KrausFinancial Advisor

Dave is driven by a passion for helping others live with clarity, confidence, and generosity. He specializes in guiding young families and pre‑retirees through their financial journeys. Providing protection solutions, gaining understanding on retirement strategies, navigating corporate plans, and incorporating tax-efficient approaches as part of holistic planning.

 

Originally from Madison, Dave earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2004. After a career with Fortune 100 companies and a leadership role at a remote technology startup, Dave and his family settled in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. To our clients, Dave brings two decades of corporate leadership in supply chain and logistics, where he developed expertise in strategic planning, risk management, and navigating complex systems.

 

Outside of work, Dave and his family attend Heartland Church of Sun Prairie. He is actively involved in coaching and cheering on many of the youth sports that his two children participate in and serves as President of the local Little League Board of Directors. In his free time, Dave enjoys traveling with his wife Brooke, weight training, hiking, cooking, and grilling.

Michael Lopp
Michael LoppFinancial Advisor

Mike joined the team in 2025 and finds great joy in assisting families, helping them get from where they are to where they desire to be.  After a long ministry career in the Reedsburg Area, he is now turning his attention to helping others with the financial services that will serve them, their families and the kingdom of God.

Mike and his wife, Angela, have 4 grown children, and 6 grandchildren and counting. He loves serving in his church, playing basketball, and motorcycling.  

Carrie Stando
Carrie StandoOperations Manager

Carrie joined Thrivent in 2017 and is our operations manager. She has extensive experience in operations management, having previously run the office for her father’s masonry business. Carrie strives to provide excellent client service and gladly shares her smile and kindness with everyone she meets. She also supports our financial advisors so they can best serve you.  

Carrie and her family reside in Reedsburg and are members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Outside of work, she keeps busy with her husband, three sons and golden retriever. Carrie is a proud hockey mom whose hobbies include reading, daily walks and do-it-yourself projects.  

Sarah Oberman
Sarah ObermanSr. Licensed Client Service Administrator

Sarah joined Covenant Financial Group in 2019 and helps ensure clients have a streamlined experience while working toward their financial goals. She is a lifelong learner who enjoys the opportunities and challenges that come with working in financial services and helping others.  

Outside of work, Sarah is passionate about spending time with her active children, serving at her church and planning vacations and nature adventures for her family.  

Brooke Kraus
Brooke KrausMarketing Coordinator

Brooke started working for Thrivent in 2022 and is our marketing coordinator. She is originally from Reedsburg and enjoys connecting with and serving our clients in the area.  

Brooke and her husband, Dave, keep busy with their two children who are very active in youth sports. Her family enjoys traveling, hiking, biking and camping together. Brooke’s hobbies include reading, cooking, working out, watching her kids play sports and spending time with friends and family.  

Lauren Kirkham
Lauren KirkhamClient Service Administrator

Lauren recently graduated from college and joined Thrivent in June 2024. She is dedicated to keeping our office organized and running smoothly. In addition, Lauren values our supportive work environment and commitment to helping the community.  

When she’s not at the office, Lauren enjoys rock climbing, swimming and spending time outdoors. She also helps cater events at her church and in the community.  

Tricia Sullivan
Tricia SullivanAssociate

Tricia joined Thrivent in January 2025. She has 18 prior years in customer service and management. She enjoys being the first friendly face our clients see and building genuine connections with them.

 

Tricia is from Yuba, WI, but made Reedsburg her home with her husband and four kids (11, 9, 6, & 3). She is very involved with all their youth activities, including competitive dance. Her favorite thing to do is watch her children do what gives them joy. She also enjoys running, being outdoors, spending time with her family, and volunteering her time at their school and parish.

Mary Kraft
Mary KraftReceptionist

Mary joined Covenant Financial Group in 2024 and has been in a couple different roles within our team. Mary has more than 40 years of experience working in financial services and enjoys being one of the faces or voices who greet our clients when they stop in or call.

 

Mary is an active member of the community and volunteers for Kid’s Ranch reading program and her church. She has three adult children and eight grandchildren. In her spare time, Mary enjoys gardening, hiking, biking, genealogy, spending time with family, attending small group bible study, cooking and doing puzzles.
