About Adam Nederhoff
I grew up in Hardin County, Iowa on a farm north of Steamboat Rock. My parents are both very hard-working entrepreneurs, Dad being in farming and Mom in the insurance business. I am incredibly grateful for the lessons they taught me about hard work and how to treat people and build relationships.
Growing up, I attended Timothy Christian School from Kindergarten and graduated from eighth grade. I went on to attend and graduate from AGWSR High School. From there, I went on to attend Ellsworth Community College, earning an Associate of Arts Degree. From there, I was able to transfer to Buena Vista University, where I graduated with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Business Management and Banking & Finance.
For the past 15 years, I have spent a lot of my free time running and cycling. I started running to lose weight that I gained while in college. To mix it up, I decided to buy a road bike, which got me plugged in with a local cycling group (Team Love Shack) that rides RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa). I jumped right in and rode all 7 days of the ride with Team Love Shack that first year and was hooked. Team Love Shack has pushed me to do things I never thought possible, including a full Ironman race in Madison, Wisconsin in 2015 as well as other events I never imagined I would even think about trying. Not only did Team Love Shack encourage me to do better, it also led me to my wife, Michelle. We met on RAGBRAI in 2014. She invited me to a bike ride two weeks after RAGBRAI that year and we have been together ever since.
Michelle and I now live in Iowa Falls with our daughter, Cambry. We are happy we made the decision to move back closer to my home and we love being a part of the Iowa Falls Community. Michelle continues her career as an Employee Benefit Specialist with Relion Insurance Services, and I am very proud of her accomplishments in that role. We also get to see each other through the workday as we work in the same office building. Cambry has been such a blessing in our lives, and we continue to enjoy watching her grow up. As a family, we enjoy being outdoors and going on road trips with new experiences. We attend River’s Edge Church and enjoy volunteering in the Children’s Ministry with the little kiddos. Michelle and I both continue to be involved in the community in various capacities. As I mentioned, we love our community, and we want to give back as much as possible.
After a career in banking and insurance, I am thrilled to be a part of Thrivent’s mission. I love building relationships and helping people and I could not think of any role that would be a better fit for me.
