I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan from Jakarta, Indonesia when my husband pursued his studies. In my culture, children are expected to support their parents in retirement—my mother depends on her children. I had no background in retirement planning or investing.
As my children grew, I realized I didn’t want to rely on them the same way. That moment pushed me to learn about financial planning and retirement.
