About Northbound Group

The Northbound Group isn’t an office full of people you meet just once or twice. We’re here to make sure the financial guidance process is based on your goals and values. You’ll get to know the whole team as you schedule your appointments, build and implement a plan, call with questions, attend our social events, lead a Thrivent Action Team and introduce us to your friends and family. We’ll help you make decisions around your insurance, investing and retirement planning needs by getting to know what really matters to you.

We see money as a tool, not a goal, and through this lens can accomplish more in bringing you real satisfaction.

Brian Pahnke

Brian Pahnke

CAP®, FIC

With almost 24 years of service with Thrivent, Brian has an extensive amount of experience and industry expertise. He is originally from eastern Wisconsin and attended University of Wisconsin – Stout, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Technology. Brian was brought to the Upper Peninsula through his work in the lumber industry, where he worked closely with large companies like Gibson Guitars. Looking to change pace and settle down in the Upper Peninsula with his wife Deb and his daughters, Alexandra and Taylor, Brian found the opportunity to work with Thrivent. He quickly fell in love with serving clients and using his engineering-mindset to create innovative tactics. Brian’s thorough approach starts with taking time to understand each client on a personal level so that he can provide them with ideas that work for them. Brian’s hobbies outside of work include boating, restoring his 1970 Ford Bronco, and spending time with his family at his camp on Mirror Lake.

Brian sits on the board for the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight which is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. He is also very passionate for the local arts center, Bonifas Art Center and enjoys supporting the Gallery. Lastly, Brian is very involved with the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula.
