About Luke
About Luke

My career has been shaped by hard work, purpose, and a strong desire for financial freedom—not just for myself, but for others as well. For three years, I owned and operated a lawn care and power washing business while spending intentional time mentoring other young men. These experiences gave me the chance to mentor young leaders, build meaningful relationships, and learn the value of consistency, trust, and serving people well. I joined Thrivent to continue that mission, helping individuals and families build a brighter future through wise financial guidance and intentional planning.

My personal background is deeply rooted in the foundation of family. Growing up, family was everything to me. I learned to be a man of God through the guidance, mentorship, and unwavering values instilled by my father. My mother taught me how to serve those around me with Christ-like love and compassion. I was also blessed with incredible grandparents who challenged me to grow, helping me understand that my true identity comes not from accomplishments, but from my relationship with God. Along my athletic journey in both basketball and baseball, I was fortunate to be mentored by exceptional coaches who shaped my character and perseverance.

Today, I remain committed to serving in the Middle and High School youth group at my church and am an active member of a young adults Bible study. I also dedicate time to mentoring young men who are eager to deepen their relationship with God and walk in His purpose for their lives.

I’ve spent my entire life in the greater Grand Rapids area. In my free time, you can often find me lifting weights at the gym, playing competitive intramural basketball, or out on the golf course, taking in the beauty of God's creation.

How should I feel if my portfolio is down by a large amount? This was a question I got from one of my best friends who is just getting into investing. It’s a great question—one that every investor will face at some point. The truth is, emotions and investing don’t mix well. Fear and anxiety can cloud judgment, leading to impulsive decisions that often do more harm than good. But when we approach investing with a long-term mindset—rooted in discipline, wisdom, and faith—we learn to see market downturns not as losses, but as opportunities. In many ways, investing parallels life. Just as David didn’t waver in his calling despite challenges, we shouldn’t let temporary setbacks shake our financial vision. Consistency, patience, and trust in the process lead to long-term success—not just in finance, but in all areas of life. So, if your portfolio is down, ask yourself: Am I making decisions based on fear or faith? Am I trusting a long-term strategy, or reacting emotionally? Success isn’t measured by short-term results but by the habits and principles we live by. Stay the course. Keep learning. And remember—the best opportunities often come when others are afraid. What’s your perspective on investing through market downturns? Let’s start a conversation!

What is LOVE? Some define love as an emotional state or an act of selfless sacrifice. Others perceive it as a fleeting emotion that can be experienced and lost. Culturally, the term “Love” has even been diluted to expressions of “like” or “enjoyment.” On this Valentine’s Day, I invite you to take a moment of reflection and consider the biblical perspective on love. The Bible presents love as a person—specifically, as the person of Jesus Christ.
 1 John 4:7-21

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. Embrace LOVE this Valentine’s Day. Embrace JESUS.
