So how did I get here?
I met my now–mentor, Adam Hess, sitting at my kitchen table in my first apartment. I had just moved across the country to Savannah after a painful breakup, chasing a fresh start in a place where no one knew my story.
I was in my late 20s, early in my career as an accountant, and I didn’t know much about investing beyond my 401(k). But I did know one thing—I had goals I wanted to reach long before 59½.
At the time, those goals looked like a future sports car. So, we set up a simple plan—monthly contributions toward something that felt exciting and just a little out of reach. More would come but this was our starting point.
I remember feeling proud of that decision. My friends weren’t talking about financial planners or long-term saving, but something in me knew I was ready to build that habit.
What I didn’t realize then was that I wasn’t just starting an account—I was starting a relationship that would shape so many seasons of my life.
Over the years, Adam was there through everything.
The career growth.
Finding love.
Getting married.
Starting a business.
Leaving corporate to go all in on that business.
Traveling to Europe—more than once.
Buying my first home.
And also, the harder seasons—divorce, starting over, moving to Nashville because it always felt like home, and then leaving again when my family needed me.
Some years were about growth and expansion.
Others were about pulling back, regrouping, and making more careful decisions.
Through all of it, he was steady.
There was never judgment. Never pressure. Just guidance, perspective, and someone who genuinely cared about helping me make the best decisions I could with what was in front of me at the time.
That experience changed how I think about money.
Because it was never just about the accounts or the returns—it was about having someone in your corner as your life evolves.
When I closed my business last year and started thinking about what was next, it was his excitement about this career that made me take notice.
After more than 15 years of being a client, joining Thrivent—and specifically this team—felt like a natural next step.
I had lived the experience—as a corporate professional, a business owner, and most importantly, as a person navigating real life.
I knew what it felt like to have guidance through both the highs and the hard resets.
And I knew that if I could offer that same level of care, perspective, and steadiness to someone else, it would matter.
That’s how I approach my work today.
Not just as a financial advisor—but as someone who understands that money decisions are some of the most personal and complex decisions, you’ll make.
And that having the right person in your corner can change everything. And this is what ultimately led me here.
xo.
