Our story

Jonathan Doering began his career with Thrivent in 1990. With a passion for service, he sought out to build trust within his community and have no limits or boundaries to whom he’d serve. With a rapidly growing practice, he decided to expand and hire a referred intern, Matthew Molstre, to join him in his mission. After two years of success, Matt joined Jon’s practice full-time in 2005 as a partner. With two sets of eyes and perspective, they felt they were in a great position to better serve their clients.

In nearly 20 years, their partnership has expanded to work with over 30 professionals across the country to share the spirit of Thrivent, forming the La Jolla Gateway Team. With a combined experience of more than 90 years at Thrivent, La Jolla continues to expand to make a positive impact in their clients' lives and their communities.

The team views money not as a goal, but as a tool — one that can afford their clients a life rich in meaning and gratitude. “We believe humanity thrives when individuals make the most of all they've been given.
