Personal Background
While I have had the joy of traveling to many places, I have lived most of my life where I was born, in Columbus, Indiana – an unexpectedly unique and diverse town in central Indiana.
I went to elementary school at St. Peters and high school at Columbus North, where I ran cross country and track while also being very involved in Boy Scouts, where I achieved the rank of Eagle. I then began studying Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University.
My professional career started at Patheon Pharmaceuticals in Cincinnati, as I participated in the engineering co-op program while at Purdue, but I used my last summer before graduating to complete an internship with Cummins MerCruiser in Charleston, South Carolina. After graduating I got engaged to my awesome wife, Meryn – also a Columbus native, and started working full time with Cummins here in Columbus.
I was at Cummins for a total of 15 years. While there I earned my MBA from the Kelley School of Business and held a variety of engineering and business roles. For some time though, I had felt led to be doing something in a different space where I could help people use the skills, gifts, and passions they have been given to make a bigger impact. For this reason, I left Cummins to start a financial planning practice in Columbus.
My wife and I regularly attend Westside Community Church and actively serve there as well.
My Approach
As a financial advisor I am passionate about helping people do more with that they have been given.
I prefer to lead with a comprehensive financial plan which then guides specific decisions. Because I believe in this approach and that everyone deserves a financial plan, I begin every potential client relationship without any fee or obligation, holding several meetings together to complete a basic financial review which results in strategy level recommendations. From there it is up to the client if they would like to continue working together in one of several ways.
