About Joseph Gustafson

My career has been connecting people with tools to help them live their best lives. For 30 years, I worked as a chef and food service manager to create food that brings people together. I would teach others to use creativity to bring happiness to people with color and flavors. Food and finance go together because you need both to survive, and they can both grow to bring enjoyment to people’s lives. I joined Thrivent to continue my work in helping people create a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

My personal and professional background— I grew up in the restaurant industry traveling around the world learning all front and back of the house positions. I keep my Certified Executive Chef certification up to date. My father passed at age 13 and I worked full-time to support my family. At 17, I joined an adult stock investment club to learn about stocks. It has always been a passion of mine. I learned from life experiences and as a Scout leader to always “be prepared.” I enjoy sharing my experiences, so others can learn and empower people to make decisions with courage and confidence. I enjoy working with families with children as I have, to gain financial clarity.

I have lived in Southwest WI for over 12 years. I enjoy the beauty and differences of the tri-state area. In my free time, I enjoy DYI projects, cooking, mechanics, car shows/races, and camping. I love anything outdoors. I teach young adults life skills through scouting, fundraising, and hands-on activities.

I meet clients in many different places in the tri-state area to keep appointments convenient. In our first meeting, we can be conversational or action oriented. It is up to you! I commit to make every interaction comfortable, positive, and a valuable use of your time. Once learning your goals and concerns, we spend some time gathering information needed to analyze your situation so I can make some recommendations. How and what you implement is up to you. I am here to help advance your goals and create options to improve your financial picture.
