Our team

Matt is the team leader of Endeavor Financial Group and serves as a lead advisor with more than 15 years of experience in financial services. He attended Northwest State Community College and Bowling Green State University as a finance major. Matt has two children, Gavin and Makenna.

Matt enjoys spending time with family and friends, including traveling, concerts, boating, fishing, cooking and being outdoors. He coaches track and basketball at St. Paul Lutheran School and plans to coach high school athletics in the future. Matt is a sports enthusiast and an avid Detroit Lions fan. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering at his church and school and various boards, including St. Paul Lutheran School Board, and Genacross Lutheran Home in Napoleon.

Carl Etzler has been a financial associate for Thrivent since 2001. Because of his expertise in wealth transfer and legacy planning, Carl has had the joy of walking alongside hundreds of clients and their families to create financial plans that provide clarity and maximize generosity for generations to come. He is joined in his office by his wife, Jean. In his years of service, he was inducted into the Thrivent Hall of Fame in 2022.

Carl serves on multiple boards, volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus, and is now a retired softball coach. He coached at Crestview High School for 21 years before retiring.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with Jean and their kids and grandkids. He can also be spotted cruising the country roads near Van Wert on his ElliptiGo ("Just Google it," Carl recommends).

Dave has been a fixture for Thrivent in Henry county for over 42 years.  He and his wife Jane have four adult children and fourteen grandchildren.

Dave enjoys the lake life, including boating and fishing. Dave has been a long standing member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, where he has served in many different leadership roles; currently serving a member of the Board of Trustees. Most of all, Dave and Jane love spending time with their family.

Andy is a lead financial advisor for the team and has 17 years of experience in financial services. He graduated from Concordia University Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology and received a Master of Science degree in sport administration from Western Illinois University. He and his wife, Cathy, have two children, Jared and Jacob.

Andy enjoys time with family and friends, and playing golf. He loves travelling and trying new experiences, and is interested in biblical history. He is also a Michigan football season ticket holder. Andy currently serves as the Vice Chairman of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Additionally he volunteers at his kids alma mater Emmanuel Christian High School.

Phillip has been a Thrivent financial associate since 2020. He received a degree in Accounting from Bowling Green State University and a Mathematics degree from Purdue University at Indiana-Purdue of Fort Wayne.

Phillip has two sons who live in Arizona and Wisconsin.

His experience spans the public, private, and nonprofit sectors which includes serving as a financial analyst, secondary mathematics teacher, coordinator for a charitable foundation, accounting director including payroll oversight, and now as a financial associate.

Phillip enjoys and values meaningful work, spirituality, health, independence, and adventure.

Bob is a financial associate and has been with Thrivent since 1986. Bob has been married to his wife, Cathy, for 45 years and have 4 amazing children. Their daughter, Autumn, passed away from cancer in 2023.

He enjoys working with our members, especially with helping them plan their retirements and estates. Bob also enjoys traveling to new places and zip lining.

Bob was a Stewardship chairman for a number of years, helped start an endowment committee and was a Lay Reader in his church.

Brad enjoys working with clients and has five years of experience in financial services. He retired from the 180th Air National Guard in Swanton, Ohio. Brad and his wife, Anna, have two children, Blake and Seth.

Brad currently serves as a chairman for Pheasants Forever in Henry County, Ohio. He's an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Napoleon where he has served on various committees, a life member of the Amvets, an active member with the American Legion for 25 years, and a member of Ducks Unlimited. In Brad's free time, he enjoys camping, hunting, fishing and boating with his family. They love to water ski and spend time on the Maumee River.

Marcia is responsible for intake and service for the team. She has 14 years of experience and attended Defiance College. She and her husband, Bob, have one child, Seth.

Marcia enjoys traveling, cooking, camping, arts and crafts, Ohio State football and country music. She supports St. Paul Lutheran School Arts Council, the Symphony of Trees, and is a Henry County 4H advisor.

Jen is responsible for the operations of the Endeavor Financial Group and enjoys daily interaction with our clients. She has seven years experience. Jen and her husband, Nate, have two children, Gracie and Addison.

Jen enjoys spending time with her family. She and Nate spend much of their free time attending their kids sporting events and activities. Jen enjoys traveling and exploring new places and is actively involved in volunteering for many organizations and events throughout Napoleon.

Taylor helps with operations of Endeavor Financial Group and has recently joined our team. This is the start of her journey at Thrivent. Taylor and her husband, Brandon, have an infant daughter, Raegan.

Taylor is originally from Michigan but moved to Napoleon when her husband took a call as an associate pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoys exploring new places and trying new restaurants. Taylor also enjoys watching her daughter grow and learn new skills.

Jean has been with Thrivent since 2004. Before starting in Carl’s office, Jean was a Dental Hygienist for 20 years.

Jean and Carl married in April of 1982. They have been blessed with three daughters; Heather, Alisha, and Kristen, and 4 wonderful grandchildren.

Jean enjoys anything that involves their grandchildren, family and friends including: their annual family vacation, family gatherings at their home, and monthly get-togethers with friends. She also enjoys traveling, music, pickleball, cooking, and baking. Jean assists with the music in various ways at their church, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, OH.

Susan is a part time Office Professional and has been since 2018. She had worked in Corporate Accounting at Central Insurance Companies and retired after 32 years. While there, she earned the designation of AIAF (Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance).

Susan was married for 40 years to Jack, who passed away in 2015. She has a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Chad, and two grandchildren. Susan also has a son, Derek, who passed away in 2001.

Susan enjoys quilting, sewing retreats, traveling, and being with family. A personal trainer gets her off the coach a few times a week, and she volunteers at Redeemer Lutheran’s weekday school, along with other events. She enjoys going to weekly women’s Bible study, line-dancing, and the Merry Widow’s group.
