About Craig Tharp
Growing up in Marshalltown, Iowa in the 80’s where high inflation, high interest rates and the lack of jobs was common, budgeting was more than a thing you talked about - it was a necessity. Even though times were tough, we found pleasure in the simple things like camping, fishing, sports, spending time with family and friends, and helping our neighbors. I believe this kind of upbringing has helped me to stay grounded with a strong work ethic and a desire to help others.
Janelle and I decided to join Thrivent in 1991 - 6 months after having our first child. We wanted to raise our children in Iowa and work with a company that shared our values of putting God first. Thirty-two years later, we find ourselves called to serve our clients/friends by providing sound kingdom-based financial advice.
My team and I specialize in wealth accumulation, charitable giving, estate planning, tax strategies, and risk management. My passion is creating relationships and helping our members live generously.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking, studying the Bible, camping, gardening, woodworking, mission trips, and working on our acreage. Janelle and I have been married for 35 years and reside in Kingsley, Iowa. We have two daughters, Megan and Rebecca (Colin) and are blessed with 6 grandchildren: Rachel, William, Jude, Emberly, Avery, and August. We are active members at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa.
