Who I am

Growing up in Southern California I spent a lot on my youth at the beach surfing. The ocean has been a focal point of my life. Spending a lot of time in Gods perfect place, the ocean has become an important part of my life. All my life changing decisions have been made in or at the edge of the ocean. Whether in times of celebration and joy or pain and sorrow or guidance and direction – the ocean has been that place where I meet with God.

My older son, knowing this about me wrote a letter to be on a surfboard. In this letter he wrote “life is kind of like the ocean. It can beat us up. But it is really quite amazing to have you teaching me and Ryan to surf through life and appreciate the simple things….”

Life is about my faith and my family. Taking in everything that God has for us, The beauty, the majesty of nature, the enjoyable moments. Life is better in the slow lane – taking time to enjoy that cup of coffee in the morning, allowing that beef brisket to sit in the smoker for 16 hours, stopping and watching the sunset or enjoying the slow smoke of a good cigar.

What I’ve done

For almost 25 years I have served the community as a Pastor in SoCal. After graduating Southern California College I start serving in a church in San Juan Capistrano while continuing into a Master’s Degree and starting a family. After 12 years of serving and two boys latter we moved to Santa Clarita where I continued to Pastor a great church.

After some of life’s journeys and Covid I stepped down from the church to find God leading me down another path which led me here to Thrivent to continue to serve His people.

Life and Adventures

Enjoying life to the fullest is the only way to live. Enjoy the Moment you are in. Life has always been about adventure. Some have called me an Adrenaline junky. Growing up surfing and do anything that was adventurous was a way of life.

This continues today, my two boys (Chris & Ryan) and I are putting all the pieces together to start an Off-Road racing team. We spend time together building, testing and attending race events in the desert.

One thing I love doing is working with my hands, whether working with wood, metal or food I like to create.
