About Christopher Cymbaluk

I'm proud to be a Thrivent financial professional. I provide personalized financial guidance to people at all stages of life. I specialize in investments, retirement accumulation and retirement planning. At Thrivent, we view money not as a goal, but as a tool — one that can afford you a life rich in meaning and gratitude. We believe humanity thrives when individuals make the most of all they've been given. I'm here to help you do just that.

I grew up in Crookston, MN. Both sides of my family had farms and at an early age I learned the importance of hard work and taking care of your responsibilities. I attended college at the University of North Dakota and the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

My path to becoming a financial advisor at Thrivent began with my mother. She had worked as a Thrivent financial advisor for 15 years and explained how she helped people make good financial decisions and save for retirement. I thought that sounded like something I was interested in for myself. This is when I met my future wife and my life changed, I was no longer just living for myself.

My wife, Mandy, and I have been married for 19 years. We have two teenagers; Elle is a senior and Will is in 8th grade. As a family, we love to travel. Maui is one of our favorite places and we love to go skiing in Big Sky, Montana, taking an annual family and friend’s trip. In the summer, you will either find us on Detroit Lake, where we love to be on the water, or at a horse arena, as our daughter competes in horse shows and barrel races. In the fall, Will and I spend as much time as possible in the woods, hunting and enjoying Minnesota’s great fall weather. Most of our winters are spent at the hockey rink watching Will and his hockey team. When we get a break from that, we try to get outside to ride snowmobile or do some ice fishing. We are also big fans of all of Minnesota’s sports teams, especially the Vikings and the Wild. We give back to Detroit Lakes Youth Hockey and Becker County 4-H.

I was born to a farming family in Crookston, MN and lived there until I moved to Nashville, Tennessee at age 11. Growing up, I loved spending time exploring the outdoors, always with my cats and dogs by my side or riding our horses. I couldn’t think of anything I would rather do than work with pets, so I was happy to get my first position as a veterinary technician at age 17.

I attended two years of college at Western Kentucky University and then moved back to Crookston, graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Natural Resource Management. Upon graduation, I was hoping to find a state park management position, so I followed my heart and moved to Mt. Hood, Oregon, though my positions at veterinary clinics continued to be where I stayed. I really enjoyed the ten years I spent in the Pacific Northwest and spent all my free time hiking the countless waterfalls of the Cascade mountain range with my dogs.

In 2006, I moved back to northern Minnesota again, to be near my family. I am the middle child, with two brothers, Chris and Andrew. I have four amazing nieces and nephews, Elle (18), Will (14), Clara (8) and Axton (4). In the fall of 2021, I married my wonderful husband, Jeremy, at a waterfall near Duluth, MN. Jeremy has been employed in the rental department at Titan Machinery for over ten years and loves playing hockey. We enjoy spending our free time together with our families and kayaking in lakes country.

I recently joined Thrivent in 2020 and I really enjoy it! The generosity and sense of community the company displays have always been inspiring to me. I never thought I would have the chance to work with my brother, Chris, but I’ve been here for over two years and it has been a really nice change for me. Our family has a long history with Thrivent, as our mom, Susie Reitmeier, was a financial advisor and Chris has enjoyed his career in Detroit Lakes for over 20 years. We enjoy bringing a family atmosphere to the office every day and I look forward to helping our team thrive.

I was born and raised on a small farm in Detroit Lakes, MN and have lived here most of my life. I am the youngest of eight children: six girls and two boys. My childhood was spent riding horses and doing what most farm kids do… chores in and outside the house. A lot of time was also spent outside playing with my siblings and cousins. I couldn’t wait to start my first “real” job and did so at 14 years old. Little did I realize that there was no hurry as I had a lot of years ahead of me to work!

My world is my family! I have three beautiful children: Brittany 35, Phillip 34, and Aaron 25. All three live within 50 miles from home, which I love! We spend a lot of time together in the summer at the lake; on the pontoon or just getting together at someone’s house. Any time spent with family is a great time! I have two “grand- dogs” Luci and Chief, whom I have the distinct pleasure of spending time with quite often. I also have two cats, Fred and Chelsea.

One of my greatest accomplishments was going back to college in my mid-40s and graduating with honors with a degree in Business Management. This, along with my previous work history, gave me the foundation I needed for working at Thrivent. I love being able to meet all our wonderful clients and helping to assist them in reaching their financial goals.
