As the summer flies by, one thing I got the chance to do was serve at Forest Springs one more time. I only filled in as Senior Counselor for a week, but it was exactly what my soul needed! It gave me the chance to reconnect with old friends, see campers 5+ years older since I had them in my cabin, and serve others in a unique way.
It is better to give than receive, and I received so much intangible goodness by giving one week back to Forest Springs. I was given reassurance, compassion, energy, and joy. All I had to do was exchange some time and effort. For those of you that do not know about the ministry of Forest Springs, let's talk. There few places that have cultivated maturity in people greater than that camp.
As the summer wraps up, my wife and I reminisced on the good times we had working at our camps during the summers of college. Those are times I truly cherish. Looking back may feel sad as we acknowledge how life has changed, but it also allows us to see exactly how far we have come. What do you want to look back on that you should be doing today?
