Why I became a financial advisor

My wife. While we were taking a walk one day, my wife told me I should be a Financial Advisor. I remember answering something along the lines of, “that’s not really what I do.” I had a successful career thus far as a CPA. I spent four years in the audit practice with Ernst & Young and five and a half years at a St. Louis area aerospace manufacturer, eventually becoming the Manager of Financial Reporting. I was great at my job. Why would I want to make such a big career shift?

I decided to explore the idea and reached out to a close friend, a Financial Advisor with Thrivent. Long story short, Jon convinced me I should be a Financial Advisor. I loved the idea of being able to serve people from all walks of life, helping them to achieve their financial goals. I liked the idea of planning the best and most tax efficient ways to achieve client goals. I really loved the idea of getting to work with people. Most importantly, I joined a team that shares the same Christian values that I share. They challenge me to be better everyday in all walks of life. They challenge me to be generous. And Thrivent clients are generous too.

Interested in exploring an advisory relationship?

If you like the idea of a financial advisor with a Christian foundation and a willingness to work with folks from the high rollers to the penniless widows, maybe you want to schedule a meeting. Our primary focus will be on:

  • Where are you now?
  • What are your goals and where do you want to be in the future?
  • What strategies should we use to be most tax efficient?
  • Which investment options may be right for you and give you the most return for your level of risk?
  • What contingency plans are in place for your family if something happens?
  • How can we maximize your assets so that you can be more generous to support the causes you care about?

If you want to get real crazy, we can even talk about faith and finances, and how God calls us to be good stewards of his resources.

If that sounds good, let’s meet up.
