I’m just like every other person on LinkedIn asking for meetings at coffee spots….
I’m quite a fan of it because it’s something easy and a majority of people enjoy a good coffee. My favorite coffee shop finally came down from Westcliffe, CO and is now in Richardson, TX somewhat on my way to Thrivent’s Allen office. What’s some of y’all’s go to coffee spots in the DFW area?
The best part in my opinion of being a financial advisor might not be what most people expect.
It’s teaching.
My background is the camp world where I had the pleasure of teaching the next generation about Christ and just outdoor survival skills. I truly love it and miss that world but God has called me here.
Teaching opportunities can happen at any moment. One of my favorite moments was while my friends and I were working on restoring a car(More pics on that when it’s finally done). One of my buddies asked me a couple questions like:
“Should I contribute to a Roth IRA or my 401(k)?”
“How much should I save for retirement?”
“How much should I be insured for?”
Well those questions turned into a long conversation and I had to pull out the spiral journal in my car to start diagraming. Turned into a really good picture.
Really looking forward to more moments like this that I can use the gifts given to me to educate others in this world.
One thing I’ve learned in this world:
People rarely remember a pitch, but they remember how you made them feel.
A small gesture, a thoughtful conversation, or simply showing genuine interest can go a lot further than another sales presentation.
Today’s marketing effort was super easy. A Chick-fil-A cookie bag and a reminder to “Put your money where your heart is.”
Behind every financial plan is a person, a family, and a set of priorities that matter deeply to them.
That’s why I love this business. It’s not really about just the financial plan(don’t get me wrong it’s important). It’s about helping people use money as a tool to support the life they want to live.
